Previews & Things

I don’t know why, but for some reason when I’m busy photographing things, I don’t feel like being busy writing blog posts. It is an unfortunate situation, because obviously when I’m photographing a lot, it’s when I have the most to post. Oh well. This is just a little preview of what exactly I’ve been busy photographing. In the last two weeks, two AWESOME weddings with fun and genuine brides and grooms and I am so grateful to have been a part of their big days. In photo number one (above), Gina and Jimmy and in photo number two (below), Megan and John. I can’t wait to share more from these weddings and give these couples the proper posts they deserve.

On a sadder note, today our Angry kitty died. :-( She’s been sick with kidney failure since my Mom found her and guilted Jason and I into keeping her back in February. We’ve been giving her IV fluids at home for a few months now, so this doesn’t come as a surprise, but it is a sad day anyway. She was an awesome cat and we’re going to miss her a lot.

And in order to not end the post with such sadness…a song! I’ve been totally loving it since I saw this song on www.dooce.com [speaking of, have you heard of this site? If you haven’t, then you obviously haven’t had a conversation with me about blogs I’m obsessed with…because this blog is generally the first one I mention in such conversations]. The song isn’t my usual style, but something about it works for me. It makes me feel like dancing around my office like a crazy person. You too? Do it…I find it to be a great stress reliever. :-)

A Macaroni

It has been brought to my attention that while I have had two posts dedicated to my cat Angry, I have no posts for Mac. This is Mac, or Macaroni. When I took this picture, Mac was much more interested in whatever the neighbor was cooking on her grill than me and my camera. I like it though…I think he has a certain woodsy ruggedness…with a twist of James Brown. :-)

I also thought I would go ahead and post this photo from long ago when I lived next to my brother and he would abandon his dogs in my apartment regularly. This is Katja who is the sweetest most lovely Rottweiler ever. I love her. She is an avid tv watcher, and she particularly enjoys any programs with animals. The only problem is, she tries to eat them off the tv and that can get a bit messy. hehe.

things i like…including Lauri’s hair

The other day I looked out the window in my living room and the sunset was so incredible, it looked like the street was more or less on fire. I ran upstairs and grabbed my camera. The sun was a bit faster than me, and it had set lower in the sky by the time I made it out, but I still love it. [You will also note that I live under a net of wires. Should I be concerned about this?]

I thought I’d share some music I love. Maybe I’ll do this every once in a while. We’ll see. The Weakerthans are without a doubt my favorite band. I would pair the word love with almost every single one of their songs and I could listen to all their albums on repeat for weeks, maybe months (former roommates will attest to this). I could list about 15 songs of theirs that I would put in contention for my favorite, but since a post of 15 songs might be a bit much, I’ll just share my top pick of the day.

This is None of the Above from the album Fallow. There’s a bit of a wait to get to the music which starts about a minute in. Apparently The Weakerthans were the opening band and this was their encore so you’ll see some dramatic text (with some confusing ellipsis) documenting that. Wait for it though. It’s good. Plus, youtube only gave me a choice between this or the cd version of this song played over the image of a gerber daisy. I think I chose wisely.

Last but not least, Lauri and Mikey were over last night and I had to take a picture of her awesome new hair!!! When she came back from her honeymoon I think she wanted to try something completely different. I think they totally suit her! LOVE THEM!

Lauri & Mikey: Wedding

Lauri and Mikey’s wedding was this Saturday and it was beautiful! They were lucky enough to have incredible weather and everything went off without any trouble at all. I have to say that I was happy to be a bridesmaid just this once rather that the photographer because we had LOTS of fun. The wedding was held at Normandy Farms, which is one of those great places that has rooms available at the same location as the reception hall.

The photographer that Lauri and Mike did hire, did an amazing job…but I whipped out my camera at the end of the night to get a few shots. How adorable are Lauri and Mikey?

And here is our freshman year hall, with our token male friend, Tae. :-) Unfortunately, it’s hard to get this whole group together anymore since we’re all soooo busy. It was awesome to get this chance to catch up. I love this picture…I’m totally framing it. [Thanks Amy for manning my camera for this one!]
