England, Paris and Jane and Ted Preview

Today is a busy, busy day! It’s the kind of busy that’s a good thing though since I’m about to head off on a trip to England and Paris with Jason! We’re catching an 8:40PM flight and we’ll be meeting my friend Amy there to travel about! I’ve never been to England or Paris and traveling in a new country is one of my favorite things to do, so I am super excited.

The plan is Bath, Cotswolds, London, Paris…in 10 days. That means that I will have LOTS of photos to post when I return. :-) I’ll have limited internet access until I get back to the states on June 3rd though. So I’ll respond to emails as soon as possible. A part of me would very much like to bring along my laptop and purchase overseas coverage for my phone. haha. But the other, larger part of me is happy that I will have a break and also knows that Jason would kill me if I did such a thing.

On another note, yesterday I shot Jane and Ted’s beautiful outdoor wedding. They are such an adorable and genuine couple and it was a pleasure to spend the day with their families.

There’s a little preview before all the photos are done.

I’m running out the door now…but everyone have a great week and look forward to all the goodies up here when I get back. ;-)

5 years since graduation…sigh

So, as of this month, it will be five looong years since I graduated from college. Muhlenberg College to be exact. Actually, those five long years have just about flown by and I can’t believe I’m that far out of college. Blink and you’d miss it. On some nice spring days I still feel like I should be heading over to Parent’s Plaza to meet the girls or cruising around Allentown. :-) Classy…

Anywho…this ever important anniversary has made me a bit sentimental for those less stressful days. Something about college…there were just more hours of fun and excitement in a day I think. So I thought it would be cool to share some of my photo 1 experiments in the studio doing portraits of my college friends (don’t judge too harshly…ha ha). Honestly though…these are still some of my favorite photos that I’ve ever taken because they totally take me back.

~~Note…I stole some of these from frames and all over…so forgive the ratty edges.

Incidentally…in these photos you are looking at a current photographer (Lauri), doctor (Rebecca), psychologist (Kira) and veterinarian (Becky). Crazy! I’m so proud of my friends! :-)

This was definitely my first experience of really enjoying photographing people and finding it rewarding. I think that’s mostly because it was just people having fun and getting their photo taken. Can’t beat it with a stick! ha ha.

graduation
Mmm…and can’t do a ‘5 years since graduation…sigh’ post without a little cap and gown action.

I hope this trip down memory lane wasn’t too boring, but a little nostalgia never hurt anyone. :-)

Gardening and Amy (… and a snake!)

_MG_4399

So on Sunday, Jason and my dad and I took on the seemingly monumental task of fixing up our yard. Okay, the yard is actually really small, but Jason and I are totally and completely clueless. Like, if my dad hadn’t come to help us, we would have probably just pulled a few weeds and called it a day. But with my dad’s help we set up beds and transplanted some stuff and now the yard is not done, but all ready for flowers and vegetables and looking great. We feel so happy to not be the embarrassing home on the block anymore. :-)

I came home from picking up some extra manure and found the yard looking like this, like it had been excavated by groundhogs or something. Apparently rather than throwing out a lot of this waste kind of stuff, you can just break it up and spread it around the yard and break it up into the grass with a bagless mower! It worked shockingly well…especially now that it’s rained. You can’t even tell that there were all those little groundhog hills. :-)

While we were gardening, we found a snake! I can’t even believe it. I didn’t even know there were snakes around here. He was a little guy though and we set him free elsewhere so that he wasn’t slithering around in the beds. Then we found three more smaller snakes in the same area of the yard. A nest! Sweet!!!

This is a caterpillar that we found. I don’t know what he is exactly or what he’s going to become but I thought he was cute.

Now I have to take a minute to wish my awesome, great, wonderful friend Amy a happy birthday!!!! :-) I will also take this moment to share just a couple of the embarrassing photos from the trip that Amy and I took to Italy a couple of years ago. She will thank me for it I’m sure. ;-)

I swear to you, she is not superimposed here. It’s funny though, right?

Note: Italy, in November…is COLD!
