Flo being Flo | Conshohocken Lifestyle Photography

I have so very many beautiful sessions to share from this Fall. I have had the best time meeting new little babies and running around in piles of leaves with toddlers. But for today, while I’m still in the thick of editing, I thought I’d share a little bit of my baby’s Halloween.

My Florence is named after someone who was very special in my life, my grandmother, Florence. Not only was original Florence pretty much the best grandmother ever, she also had a very specific sense of style, which involved puffy paint, big hair, blue and purple eye shadow and wearing isotoners on shopping trips to the mall, among other things. I have a very vivid memory of her wearing her isotoners to the mall with me when I was a teenager and at the time I’m pretty sure I wanted to hide in a rack of clothing. Now I find it to be delightfully whimsical.

Some fun facts about original Flo:
-She didn’t just enjoy puffy painting her own shirts, she also decorated my brother’s sports shirts with puffy paint and even made my entire family puffy paint Christmas sweatshirts one year! We had professional family photos taken with everyone wearing their sweatshirts (Note to future clients: If you have puffy paint sweatshirts, I am totally on board with including them in your photoshoot!!!)
-The little stuffed dog is part of the costume. My grandmother had many dogs over the course of her lifetime and devoted a good deal of time to finding homes for homeless dogs. It was basically a full time, unpaid job for her.
-The Lays potato chips are also part of the costume. My grandmother was a connoisseur. No joke.

If you are wondering, Florence did not enjoy being dressed as original Florece. These photos represent more or less the entirety of the time that she allowed the wig and glasses to stay on. Still, I don’t think there will ever be a halloween costume that I like more. :-)

(Yes, my brother and I are wearing matching knit booties as preteens in this photo. Yes, my grandmother made them for us. She was awesome.)
